Allawah Rd: A Polished Extension

Timber Artistry completed a sleek home extension bringing much needed space to this family home. From the ground up, Timber Artistry completed all structural and subfloor framework. On a practical level, all was taken care of. Electrical switch boards and main power supply feeds were moved and re-positioned as required, while thermal insulation and internal finishes were complete as per the BASIX certificate.

To create the polished look and feel of this extension all new aluminium windows were installed and “Matrix” cladding was installed to the external facade. It was then painted in “Monument Black” with brass marine lights, sensors and spot lights to complete the look at night. Corrugated colour-bond roof sheeting tops off the shiny new addition.

Mona St: Many Things Coming Together

With weatherboard installation well under way on the rear of the house, Timber Artistry begins battening over existing brick work on the front of the house ready for the new weatherboard finish.  

The granny flat extension at the rear of the property is also on track. The framing is complete and Timber Artistry install fire rated plaster board to the granny flat’s walls and ceilings. The same weatherboard finish is applied to the exterior of the granny flat too. Hardwood decking around the entertaining area in the backyard is now complete.

As part of the cosmetic makeover, Timber Artistry install sandstone cladding to the front of the house and around garage openings. A front pivot door brings about a dramatic change in the entry way, while timber trims and detailing around the existing front facade completely change the whole look of the house. New side gates are constructed and installed to ensure no part of the house is missed.

The Berry Barn: Taking Shape

Berry is a popular holiday destination and the demand for unique accomodation has never been higher. Friends of Timber Artistry decided that a secondary dwelling on their property in Berry would be the perfect place to accomodate weary travellers and exhausted Sydney-siders. 

Familiar with Timber Artistry’s unique style, the couple requested a barn style secondary dwelling. The ‘barn’ would include a bathroom, kitchenette and living space with a mezzanine bedroom and cathedral open pitch ceiling. Working from scratch Timber Artistry’s scope of work included pouring the concrete slab, construction of framed walls and corrugated iron roofing.

Aesthetic elements include exposed rafter ceiling with painted timber beams and V-joint lining boards. French doors and windows were installed along with new weatherboards and cladding to the external walls. 

To round out this project a new pergola with v-joint lining boards on the ceiling is constructed and attached to the barn, providing an outdoor space, as well as protection from the sun and rain.

Warraba Flat: Out With the Old

With increased housing prices, both home owners and renters are looking to granny flats as a solution. Timber Artistry is no stranger to the humble granny flat, but in typical Timber Artistry style, their granny flat projects offer far more than any traditional second dwelling.

In this project we follow the construction of a new separate dwelling, approximately 80 square metres. The plans include two bedrooms, laundry, powder room, main bathroom, linen press, open plan kitchen and dining that opens on to a new entertaining area.

In this first phase, demolition of the existing dwelling has been carried out and excavation works have taken place to make room for the new dwelling. Concrete has been poured for new piers, as per engineering specifications and steel beams installed for the floor. Wall framing and framing for the new deck area are in place ready for the roof structure.

Labour of Love: Demolition and Perfect Concrete

This ‘knock down, rebuild’ project is a personal labour of love for Timber Artistry Construction. As the project unfolds we look forward to sharing all the personal design details and ‘outside the box’ ideas. 

In part one of this construction journey the existing three storey house is demolished and all services are removed. Detailed excavation is then carried out on the site to accomodate the new dwelling foot print. A concrete slab is poured with allowance for an architectural concrete feature wall. You will also see that construction of the ground floor framework has begun.

Mona St: The Start of Many Things

This multi-part project on Mona Street involves construction of a new attached granny flat, rear entertaining area, pool landscaping and a number of interior and exterior cosmetic updates. 

Inside the home, these updates include installation of timber bifold door units, internal conventional hardwood flooring and bathroom and laundry renovations. Cosmetic updates outside include new weatherboards and privacy screens, sandstone cladding, new painted finishes and high end copper down pipes. 

In the first phase of this project, Timber Artistry have given life to a new outdoor entertaining area and commenced work on the new weatherboards and privacy screens.

The 202: A Roof, Floors and Doors

A roof over your head is always important, but a new corrugated colour bond roof is even better. In this next stage of construction, we see a new roof structure, outdoor decking and installation of windows and doors.

It’s out with the old and in with the new as Timber Artistry changes the 202’s entire roof profile from concrete roof tiles to corrugated colour bond roof sheets. The outdoor entertaining area begins to take shape with construction of an adjoining back deck. Tallowwood gives the deck an elegant finish, whilst maintaining durability, which is especially important for an outdoor area that is exposed to the elements. It also demonstrates Timber Artistry’s continued commitment to both aesthetics and quality craftsmanship.

Boxed stairs, opening onto the yard, are framed and ready for lining, as are external walls in preparation for a rendered finish. Inside, hardwood floors are progressing and framework is ready for gyprock walls and lining. Timber Artistry always works closely with their clients, listening to their preferences to ensure their vision becomes a reality. In this instance, aluminium windows, doors and custom louvered privacy screens were all installed as per the client’s request. With windows and doors in place, the structure is starting to look more like a home.
